πΆπ Roots of Empathy β Theme 5: Sleep ππΆ
Our P4/5 class had another wonderful visit as part of the Roots of Empathy programme, this time focusing on the theme of sleep. Baby Ruairí and his mum, Niamh, returned to help us explore this important aspect of growth and wellbeing.
In this session, the children learned all about the importance of sleep for both babies and adults. They saw how baby Ruairí’s sleep routines, and the care Niamh provides to help him rest, help him grow, feel safe, and stay healthy. The children learned that sleep is not just about rest; it’s a time for our bodies and minds to recharge, so we can feel happy, calm, and ready for the day ahead.
Our fantastic Roots of Empathy instructor, Maeve, guided the children through this session, helping them reflect on the different ways we all take care of ourselves to get the sleep we need. Maeve’s thoughtful insights always encourage the children to think deeply and share their own experiences, making every visit even more meaningful.
The class also discussed how everyone, no matter how old, needs good sleep to stay emotionally balanced and feel their best. It was heartwarming to see the children connect the idea of self-care with the loving ways Niamh ensures Ruairí gets his sleep, showing that sleep is an essential part of self-love and care.
Thank you so much to Niamh, baby Ruairí, and Maeve for helping us understand the importance of sleep and for continuing to teach us through these gentle, everyday moments. ππ
