πŸ‘ΆπŸ’š Roots of Empathy – Theme 2: Crying πŸ’šπŸ‘Ά

12th Oct 2025

On Friday, the P4/5 class had another special visit from baby Ruairí and his lovely mum, Niamh, as they explored Theme 2: Crying in their Roots of Empathy program.

Crying is one of the very first ways babies communicate. Whether Ruairí is tired, hungry, or just needs a cuddle, his cries tell us that something important is going on. And through watching and talking about his cues, the students are learning to be more understanding, more compassionate, and more in tune with the feelings of others.

It’s incredible to see how much empathy grows when a baby becomes the teacher. Students are not only learning about infant development - they’re learning how to care for others, listen with kindness, and see the world through someone else’s eyes.

Thank you to Ruairí and Niamh for helping us learn that all feelings are okay, and that empathy begins with understanding - even if it starts with a little cry.
