πŸ‘ΆπŸ’š Roots of Empathy - Theme 9: Goodbye and Good Wishes πŸ’šπŸ‘Ά

4th Jun 2026

Our P4/5 class enjoyed a very special and thoughtful Roots of Empathy session as they marked Theme 9: Goodbye and Good Wishes with baby Ruairí and his mum, Niamh.

The children reflected on how relationships grow over time and how it can feel to say goodbye after sharing such meaningful experiences together. They talked about the different emotions that can come with goodbyes - pride, happiness, sadness, and gratitude - and learned that all of these feelings are normal and important.

Through discussion and observation, the children recognised how Ruairí has grown and changed since their first visits and how strong, caring relationships help babies feel safe, confident, and loved. They also practised expressing good wishes, kindness, and appreciation - skills that help us nurture empathy and healthy relationships throughout life.

It was lovely to see how thoughtfully the children shared their feelings and how confidently they used empathy and respect to talk about change and transition.

A heartfelt thank you to Niamh, baby Ruairí, and Maeve for allowing us to be part of such a special journey. These sessions have left a lasting impression, and the learning will stay with the children long after the final goodbye. πŸ’›
