πŸ‘ΆπŸ»πŸ’š Primary 5/6 Complete Their Roots of Empathy Journey πŸ‘ΆπŸ»πŸ’š

20th Jun 2025

Primary 5/6 have just completed their Roots of Empathy programme and have waved goodbye to Baby Déarbhla and her mummy Fiona for the final time this year. The iconic green blanket has been folded up, marking the end of a very special journey.

Throughout the programme, the class explored 9 unique themes, learning everything from baby safety and sleep patterns, to how to care for and plan around a baby's needs when leaving the house.

Along the way, we learned all about Déarbhla’s temperament and development. We also learned a lot about ourselves, how we feel, how we communicate, and how we connect with others.

We had the joy of watching Déarbhla achieve many exciting milestones: rolling, sitting, standing… and even sharing a snack with us one day! She also shared her comfort items, showing us that even without words, you can communicate using your body, facial expressions, and voice.

One of the most memorable parts of the programme was witnessing the beautiful, loving bond between Déarbhla and her mummy, Fiona. Their connection showed us what empathy, trust, and care really look like.

As a result of this journey, we have broadened our emotional literacy and grown in empathy, skills that will help us for life.

A huge thank you to Baby Déarbhla and Fiona, and to our wonderful Roots of Empathy instructor, Maeve. This meaningful experience wouldn’t have been possible without you all.
