This month, we’re proud to support Deaf Awareness Month - a time to increase understanding, celebrate Deaf culture, and promote inclusion for people who are deaf or hard of hearing.
At Lissan PS, this awareness is especially meaningful as we have a pupil with a severe/profound hearing impairment. Their presence in our school community reminds us every day of the importance of empathy, communication, and accessibility for all.
Throughout Deaf Awareness Month, we aim to:
👂 Raise awareness about the challenges and experiences of those with hearing loss
🤟 Promote the use and learning of sign language
💬 Encourage inclusive communication in and out of the classroom
💙 Celebrate the strength and diversity of the Deaf and hard of hearing community
