The importance of play

29th Mar 2022

A play specialist, O.Fred Donaldson said “Children learn as they play. Most importantly, in play children learn how to learn”.

This year, through play sessions, we have observed our pupils develop compassion, empathy, self-confidence and motivation to learn. These are life skills that our pupils will carry with them through their years in school and beyond.

P1/2 are working so hard on their reading, writing and numeracy but we must not forget the work and development that has taken place in their play sessions 👏 👏.

We were also artists today and completed our first Draw with Rob! We drew tigers as we have been reading and writing about the story ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’ 🐯 ✍️.
